So this is what you are supposed to do with the Steel Ball and Tube? This is fantastic! I first saw this trick demonstrated (very badly) by a magic dealer when I was at my first magic convention – and although the presentation was forgettable – for some reason I never forgot the look of the effect and the simple, iconic props of a steel tube and a simple ball-bearing.

Now, as I read through the highly detailed instruction booklet that comes with this deluxe version of the effect I can at last appreciate why this little seen trick is a complete classic of magic.

Justin M. Monehen, with the help of magic legend, Bruce Smith has grabbed this effect with both hands and produced a polished routine that is fun, elegant, practical and above all baffling.

Apparently, this product is the first in an new range from Hey Presto – and if this set is anything to go by then the quality should be lovely. The set includes everything you need to perform the full routine including a silk handkerchief and even an extra ball. The instructions are very well illustrated with over 40 drawings showing exactly how to preform every part of a five phase routine. And the finale which is mentioned on the box is truly a clever price of misdirection and routining leaving the magician completely clean.

Visit Hey Presto Magic for more information.

I’m looking forward to trying out this routine in my act.
